Course Details

The Royal Curragh Golf Club in County Kildare, is Ireland’s oldest golf course. It is a challenging heathland course of 18 holes, 4,700 acres, par 72, routed over rolling terrain which is naturally well drained, allowing play during wet periods when others are closed.  Detailed research has proven that golf was first played on the plains of the Curragh in County Kildare in 1852. The club was founded in 1858, making it, also, the oldest golf club in Ireland. The club has over 900 members of all categories and visitors are also welcome.

There is an extensive practice area at the The Royal Curragh Golf Club which includes a full 250 yard driving range as well as the practice putting green which fronts the clubhouse which will enable visitors to sharpen this important area of the game while offering panoramic views of the course.

Surrounded by historic sites and the famous race course, golf has been played at the Curragh since 1852.

The golf course is situated on land which has been uncultivated since prehistoric times, allowing for the development of the exceptional heathland conditions.
