Historical Golf Course

The Golf course is situated on the Curragh plains, an area of natural grassland and heath, which has existed as an uncultivated plain for over 2,000 years.

It is one of Ireland's outstanding and best-known landscapes and is the oldest and most extensive tract of semi-natural grassland in the country, with an ecosystem older than most woodlands and as old as the upper peat of the raised bogs.

It is an area of both national and international importance and also of immense archaeological, cultural, environmental and historical significance.
The Curragh has acquired over the centuries, a rich microflora system, evidenced by the wide range of unique grasses and wildflowers found throughout the golf course.

The golf course is situated on land which has been uncultivated since prehistoric times, allowing for the development of the exceptional heathland conditions and the uniqueness of the free-draining soil type and topology.

This unique combination means that the course is playable all year round and is a much sought after venue for visitor groups.
