Club Bye Laws
BYE-LAWS 2016The Club Committee is empowered to make, and from time to time alter, such bye-laws and regulations for the management of The Club as it may consider necessary (Club Constitution rule 7.7)

- Priority Status and Times
- Ordinary Members have priority on the 1st Tee at all times except those listed hereunder and as designated by the Club Committee. Any particular group (2, 3, or 4 ball), which includes a category other than Ordinary, will have a lower degree of priority on the 1st
- Ladies Competition of the Day will be on Tuesdays. Summer and Winter time will be in accordance with the clock change in March and October. Ladies will have priority on the 1st Tee during the following times:

8.30 to 11.30 8.20 to 11.00
2.00 to 3.30 1.00 to 2.30
4.30 to 6.30
- Alterations: The Club Committee has power to alter priority times as follows: GUI competitions; Bank Holidays; Open Week; ILGU competitions; Church Holidays and other exceptional circumstances.
- Fourballs: Fourballs are not permitted on any day if the Competition of the Day is not a fourball.
- Mixed Competitions
- Mixed: The same partnership must not play more than once, in any one year, in monthly mixed competitions, with the exception of the Price Mixed Foursomes and the Joe Butler Mixed Foursomes. Juveniles or Juniors under 18 years of age are not eligible to play in monthly mixed.
- Handicap: All participants in mixed competitions must hold a current CONGU handicap.
- Country Members
- Country Members are eligible to play in mid-week competitions (excluding Club match play, the Price Mixed Foursomes and the Joe Butler Mixed Foursomes).
- Country Members are not eligible to play in any Men’s/Ladies’ Club Competitions other than Semi-Opens (where they may also invite a player) and Opens.
- New Competitions, Trophies and Prizes:
- Inauguration: A prospective donor or donors of a Perpetual Trophy will, in the first instance, offer it to the Club Committee who will examine the offer to see if it complies with the Committee’s sponsorship policy and the rules of the Golfing Unions. If it so complies, the Club Committee will forward details to the Men’s or Ladies’ Committee, as the case may be, who having examined and accepted the offer, will decide on the playing conditions, replica policy and any other details of interest to the members.
- Prize Winners: Club Trophies will be retained in the Trophy Cabinet in the clubhouse.
- JuvenilesJuveniles may NOT play on the course after 4.00 p.m. unless accompanied by a playing adult.
- Green Fees: (Para 13 Club Constitution)
- Pay before Play: Green Fees MUST be paid prior to playing.
- Entry and Payment: Payment will be made in the Pro Shop. If the Pro Shop is closed, payment will be made in the Bar.
- Reduced Rate: Members of the Royal Curragh Golf Club may introduce THREE (3) visitors at any one time for the reduced rate Green Fee.
- Extra Visitors: Any extra visitors must pay the FULL Green Fee
- Play with Visitor: Members introducing a visitor must play with that visitor.Tee Time Restriction: No Green Fees are permitted during times designated as “Members Time”
- Charge for Course
The Committee will decide the charge for the course in the case of classic or special fund raising events.
- Societies
A visitor will pay the Green Fee as laid down by the Club Committee
- Correspondence
To facilitate the smooth running of the monthly Committee Meetings, members are required to submit correspondence at least one day prior to the particular meeting.
- Complaints (Para 8.2 Club Constitution)
Complaints shall be submitted in writing and shall be referred to the Honorary Secretary of the relevant Club.
- Course: (Rule 14 Club Constitution)
- Removal of a ball from a hole by using the putter can damage a hole and is not permitted.
- Rule 14 also applies to abuse of chipping and driving areas. Collection and removal of balls from the Practice Range is strictly forbidden as is re-use of balls without additional payment.
- Caddies
Caddies for hire are not permitted in the Royal Curragh Golf Club.
- Ride-On Buggies:
- Children under age 18 are not permitted to drive Ride-On Buggies on Club premises.
- Members’ Personal Ride-On Buggies
- The use of personal ride-on motorised golf buggies on the Royal Curragh golf course is permitted ONLY with the express written permission of the Club Committee.
- Conditions of Use are as follows:
- Members must apply in advance and in writing to the Club Committee for permission to use a personal ride-on motorised golf buggy.
- The written application must be accompanied by a current certificate of insurance for the applicant driver of the buggy
- Evidence of current insurance must be provided annually.
- Permission, if granted, will be given in writing to the member applicant.
- ONLY that particular member applicant may drive the buggy on the course.
- Other Club members, of any category, may NOT drive the buggy at any time
- The Club will not be responsible for the security and/or storage of personal ride-on golf buggies.
- Visitors’ Personal Ride-On Buggies are not permitted on the Royal Curragh golf course.
- Distance Measuring Devices (DMDs)
- For all play on Royal Curragh golf course, unless otherwise specified, a player may obtain information by using a device that measures distance only.
- If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g. gradient, wind speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless or not whether any such additional function is actually used.
